…that Nathan found Nir at his house after hours of clearing his driveway with a chainsaw. There was no power, no water, no cell phone service but they agreed they needed to take their food truck downtown and feed as many people as they could with what they had. Several weeks and thousands of free meals later,  they realized it was time to take the idea of building a hummus company with a silly name seriously.

More importantly, the idea of what Snuuny meant started to take shape. Grassroots networks of neighbors, local business owners, and strangers carried each other through an incredibly challenging time without question or judgment. It was an active and vibrant demonstration of “taking delight in differences and seeing the beauty in everyone” and it’s what carried all of us through weeks without basic essentials.

Our name, logo, and symbols are all a tribute to the incredible resilience and beautiful spirit of everyone in Asheville who came together and created something beautiful from a historic tragedy.

The name means “the ability to be delighted by our differences and see the beauty in everyone” because it shouldn’t take a time of crisis for us to see how our differences are strengths that can benefit and improve each other.

The leaf in our logo symbolizes the new growth that will come from the tragedy that struck our area while also showing our commitment to clean, natural ingredients in our hummus.

The water drop in our logo is a reminder of our relationship with water. It is essential for all life, including the new growth we hope to create at this new venture, but as it can also bring great devastation, it should never be taken for granted.
